Hi guys,
I am off to Derwent Dam in Derbyshire for a sunday morning ride about 10.5 miles on the tracks round the res on Sunday 19th Oct, if anyone wants a steady ride your quite welcome to join me. As some of you may know I am taking part in the 2008 36 Mile Robin Hood charity bike ride on 2nd November so I need the bike time not only for me but to make sure the bike will do it. I dont know what the tracks are like there but I am sure I will find out on the day, hell thats why we explore.
My start time from the dam car park is likely to be about 10.00 so plese reply in the forum if you want to come, I will be the guy in the car park struggling to get his MTB off the roof of his silver Mitsubishi Shogun.

Hi BMR,

I am new to the forums but reckon I may be interested in the Derwent ride, recently rode a 35k circular part of the derwent and ladybower, started and ended in Hope.

What route do you have in mind, are you planning mostly trail or quite a bit of road?

Hi Bry5,
I am planning on keeping to the trail as much as I can traveling anticlockwise round the res I do think the final couple of mile are likely to be on a road which has restricted access to motor vehicles so will not be too busy I am sure. Your quite welcome to join me I am not a fast rider, just need to get some bike miles back under my belt as I have only just taken up riding again after a 30 year break.
Been out tonight down my local disused canal tow path on the Shockwave covered 3.66 mile in 18 mins in the rain and mud with a rack fitted and a bag on the rack loaded (train heavy, sponsored ride light).
Brian.

Hey BMR,

Sorry but I now have a second option of a ride closer by that weekend, if you plan any more round the Hope Valley though post it up, because I love riding the area surrounding Derwent and Ladybower, definately up there on my top 5 places to ride.

Went to workshop, loaded bike on the roof of the Shogun then took a steady drive to the Derwent Dam car park in Derbys. Car park was already full but found a space, unloaded the bike and got set up, left the car park at about 10.30 and decided to take an anti-clockwise route round the res, bad news as everyone else was going clockwise and by the time I got back had lost my voice due to saying goodmorning to so many riders going in the opposit direction. The pics speak for themselves and I will defenatly be doing this ride again (but in a clockwise direction!)

I enjoyed it Gunner and every time I ride I feel little bariers are being pushed up, hills I rode up today I would have walked up last week, I am very pleased with how its going both me and the bike.
