Good evening all.

to many of you this maybe a stupid question but lets roll with it.

My friends only bike is running a 3by8 setup and he want to change it to 1by10.
we have worked out in the frame it will work but we dont know about the BB

he current BB is a Square taper type, and the bike brand(Cube) use an English thread Square taper BB.

What other type of BB's will fit this shell type. Is it as easy as buying an screw in type BB and it will work? he it looking at Deore BB52 Hollowtech II.

Can't he just order the same type of BB but with a shorter axle length to compensate for the single ring?

If he's switching to HTII then will need a HTII BB also

Some cranksets come with the BB too, but they are only about £7 - £15 to buy anyway.

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-deore-hollowtech-bottom-bracket/

They will fit where his existing BB did.

Chainline can be adjusted using the spacers provided with the BB
