Just thinking ahead...

I always carry a spare chain around with me on rides, but the more I ride the more the cassette will wear away, meaning should I ever need to replace the chain in the event of breakage; I will likely face some problems with the new chain interacting with the old cassette.

Is there anything to be said for swapping chains every month or so, so that I have two chains that fit pretty well with the cassette ???

worth a go at least then the spare chain would mesh better with the cassette but at some point your going to have to change the cassette.
