The Tacx Blue Motion Turbo Trainer.

This is the top model of the Blue cycletrainers. The Blue Motion features the same brake system as the Satori. The powerful Neodymium magnet , the extra large steel flywheel of 1.6kg and the 10 position handlebar resistance lever allow for very high powers at low pedalling frequencies. The maximum resistance is 950 Watt.

This turbo was recently part of a group turbo review in Cycling Active magazine and came out on top of all those reviewed. List price in the magazine was £200, but I managed to pick this up in Westbrooks Cycles for £158 and as I couldn't be arsed to go through,8 mile, I got it free delivery. Brilliant, and almost next day too.

Found it very easy to set up, only a small amount of assembly necessary and instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Fitted the bike to it and made some small "contact" adjustments via the wheel at the rear and it was ready to go.

I set the handlebar resistance to 5, which is midaway through the range and used the gears for extra resistance. Operation was very smooth and very, very road like. The unit is incredibly stable, helped by the "legs" that support it and which have a nice degree of adjustmnent.

Used the handlebar mounted resistance on the next session and found the increments provide an excellent degree of resistance especially if you want to replicate hill climbs. The unit itself is incredibly stable when "honking" out of the saddle regardless of the reistance setting.

Definetely a score of 10/10 for this turbo from me, miles and miles above the last unit I was using, excellent value for money.
