Hi guys-loving the site!I know this topic has been covered a million times but
I am having trouble setting up my rear derailliur.I have set the high and low limit but it keeps slipping between gears-mainly 5 and 6 on middle cog Its an old mtb with shimano altus 18 speed.Any advice appreciated |

How new is the mech ?
Have you checked of the hanger is not bent ?

very good video thanks for link.I think my problem is the fact that all my bits are old and worn.There is a tensioner is at the mech end on my bike |

A worn mech and cables can make indexing difficult
Your tension-er works the same way as the newer mechs that have them on the shifter
