My Teva Links had finally given up the ghost after a couple of years faithful service. As they are no longer available, I decided to try a few pairs of shoes out in a bike store in the lake district as I was on hols.

Tried out some Specialised, which felt wrong, also the Five Ten Impacts, which were a bit clumpy. Plus a couple of other random shoes.

Tried on the Five Ten Freerider Elements, and they felt right. Light, solid and have apparently got this stealth rubber sole which is grippy. I took the plunge and handed over my cash.

First impressions, almost too grippy - took a bit of getting used to, but after about a mile, I was in the zone. No pedal slip, comfortable platform on my pedals and they felt light enough yet solid.

I'm amazed at how those soles manage to grip so well. So if you are in the market for a new shoe. I highly recommend these. They also kept the water out from a few splashes and a "foot in puddle moment."
