Ok, got a Merida and love it, got hydraulic discs, first time I've had discs, but am I being too fussy! I would expect them to run smooth with no grinding noises or is this perfectly natural? I have improved the noise by setting the rear wheel straight! Still not 100% with the pdi from the lbs! But by the by! Will they make noise?

Discs will quite often make a little bit of noise, especially if you've been out on it, as you'll get little bits of grit in there and it's a very small space.

The wheel you shouldn't have to fiddle with. It should sit in there perfectly straight without any effort....unless you have a funky way of putting it on Wink

On the other hand, the pads might not be aligned properly. You could try doing this yourself. There's loads of instructions on the www - you should find some good ones on Park Tools, or Sheldon Brown. Or Youtube.

are the discs perfectly true? If they are a tiny bit warped (as most discs are after a few rides and the odd fall) then there will be a slight grinding each time as the disc revolves and just skims the pads. Nothing you can do about it really unless you fit a new disc every few weeks, but equally its absolutely nothing to worry and fuss over! Very Happy
