Hi All.

I discovered this site thanks to a link from Denny who posted on another forum I use.

I've recently got back into cycling after many years doing other sports. Although cycling is my No 2 sport (don't ask about the No 1 sport) I actually prefer it in terms of enjoyment over the sport that I do seriously.

Because I'm competitive by nature I've entered five or six sportives this year and in August I'll be heading to the Alps to do a big one-week ride there.

Most of my cycling last year was done solo and although I like solo riding I prefer a bit of company but don't really fancy joining a cycling club as cycling is never going to be my main sport.

I used to do a bit of mountain biking but less so these days.

I know bikers like to know the techy stuff so my bikes are as follows: An old Scott Pro MTB, an Airborne Lucky strike titanium MTB, a Scott CR1 Pro road bike and my pride and joy a Pinarello Prince.

I live in a village called High Hesleden just outside Hartlepool and my house is only yards away from one of the best Sustrans tracks in the North-East.

That's it. Too much information.

Welcome Harry, I'm another one who likes riding on the road.

Like you, I often ride alone on the road, it allows for me to just get out whenever I want, or whenever I can.
I enjoy meeting people on the road and having a chat as we ride but far too often they are going to slow and I'm going too fast or vice versa Laughing Laughing

Why not start a post letting us know what sportives you are doing, and maybe what your training program is looking like.

Have you checked out the Ryedale Rumble, and the Five Dales Challenge, I'm sure you probably have but there are links on the site to them if you haven't.

Gunner. I'm doing the Ryedale and the Five Dales. Also doing Northern Rock Cyclone and White Rose classic.

Have only been on the bike twice since October. I'm in my 'other' training at the moment but planning to start on the bike at Easter.

I will have to Google the Northern Rock Cyclone, I must admit to not having heard of that one on the grapevine Wink
