Seems the site is getting more popular, where looking at revising it, changing the layout a bit and adding loads of new features.

So if you have any suggestions at all for the website, now is the time to post them. Smile

Cheers,
Dale.

Just a suggestion but why don't you make it so users can upload routes and can download them to use on gps.

Say, I took a batch of photographs, like Gunner does. I thought if would be a idea to have a category just for photos, like some forums do.

I've only just noticed that there is member photo slot on the top line Embarassed

What I meant is move the slot to the main forum, if this makes sense Exclamation

There is alway the members photo albums, Agman.

You could upload your photo's and comments to there if you created a gallery, would that be any good?

Sure will do.

Got meself a Topeak Tribag for the camera, that attachs to the handle stem. Making the camera more handy to grab.

Will do some photos tommorrow, on the W2W route from Hurworth to Great Ayton section. Might be a change for the forum.

Due to the number of rides being organised, it would be great to have something along the lines of this so people could post a ride, and then anyone who plans on coming along can sign up - makes it easy to see who is / isn't coming, especially for the monthly forum rides where the threads can run for a few pages.

Also, for routes section, it may be worth giving Dylan @ http://www.sharemyroutes.com/ a shout - he's got IMO one of the best route sharing sites out there with some great features, and he is working on lot of funky ways that he can integrate the site into other peoples. I was talking to him about a similar thing on my site but we hit a technical roadblock due to the platform I'm running on, but that shouldn't be an issue on other platforms. And he's based in North Yorkshire as well!

Thats ranked highly on our to do list, but we are planning something much better than that! Twisted Evil

As for the routes sharing, i'm not so sure thats a good idea. Our routes are unique to the site, you can't find them anywhere else and therefore it is a reason to come and visit the site, if you get me..

I'm also hoping on getting a better way of displaying profiles, so rather than just basic information on yourself its more of a page, which will contain all your gallery photos, rides you are organising, routes you have uploaded etc etc..

Know what you mean, but imo opinion having routes is only so valuable, and will drive one off hit's, but the real value is the community and a way to meet up with people to actually ride those routes with, which is where MTBE is really strong.

My favourites folder is littered with routes sites I rarely, if ever visit once I've been to them the first time, the sites I go back to are the ones with a friendly, active forum like MTBE. I guess what I'm saying is it's a nice to have, but I wouldn't bust a gut on it and would put it as a lower priority than the community / ride organising features you have planned.

Of course if you have the time to do it all then great! Very Happy

I've had a chat with Dale today and stressed my point of view that at the moment the Forum seems to be working really well, and is particularly user friendly at the moment.

The "Organise A Ride", and the Forum Rides are going from strength, just look at the rides we've done, the Dalby ride, and who wouldn't want to get out and ride after seeing Matt's photo's from Easter Monday's Ride.

I think the posting of photo's directly into topics is working really well and helps to bring the Forum to life.

My only suggestion is an easier way to upload map files to the OS ROUTES section, and to the forum categories, though I know Dale is working on this.

I think other strengths will come from Denny's possible posting of maintenance topics complete with pictures, that would be a good feature.
