Just thought I'd post a map of April's proposed Forum Ride, sorry I couldn't get it to a larger scale, I'm still practicing with this ruddy map lark!!

Anyway, it gives any one with a map a rough idea of the sort of terrain we'll be doing, the START/FINISH point is the CAR PARK in the top left corner.

Clicking on the map should enlarge it........

See you there........

Gunner - what do you think about taking your route, leaving it essentailly the same but turning into a figure of 8 with the bottom half done clockwise?:

Looking at my edited map above, point 1 is very difficult to climb but is an entertaining descent, stretch the route south a bit coming out of Bransdale at point 2 to climb on tarmac, point 3 is a better descent than climb, we'd have to do section at point 4 twice but it's a good downhill stretch anyway.

Maybe 20/21/22 miles in all?

Yeah, that's no problem with me, though I think we should organise a review at the start of point 4, ON THE SECOND LAP, as to whether anybody wants to to re-ride that section and complete the route, or return to the start via Jacksons Bank (the way we came).

My only reason for this is, I personally feel that the route is more demanding done in the direction you suggest, the long tarmac climb out of Bransdale then becomes a fair climb off road, as does the section out of Tribsdale Beck towards the start of point 4.

Other than that, I'm happy to go whatever direction Wink

Good idea, people might be ready for home by then.

Climbing out of Bransdale's not too bad once you're off the tarmac, it's a bit of a long boring drag but not too steep and the descent into Tripsdale's really good from that side, though, yeh, the climb out of the other side is a bitch!
