Being a keen Coaster to Coaster, this is my next ride for June. The Seaside Run was never taken up, due to the weather. Still I will do this one.

Will do that and I've only 11 weeks left for training. I need to get started now building up to 50 miles, now the weather (we hope) is going to get better.

Thought I better get today and get some training done, seeing I have only 11 weeks to go for the double Coast to Coast ride.

Got the road-bike out, only got up the road and seat-post kept slipping down, got the allen key to tighted up bolt. Clamp kept popping, don't believe it. Not surprised, after swopping the saddles about dozen times in the last 6 months, weaken the thread.

So back home and on the internet to order a new Hope 31.8mm clamp, so hopefully Rolling Eyes get it in the morning from my favourite online cycling store Wink

All I managed was 15 miles on the mtb, going up to Thorpe Thewles - Carlton - Redmarshall - Bishopton - Stillington - Thorpe Leazles - Grindon - Castle Eden WW - Home.

Got caught in a heavy shower and covered in mud spray, by not having the front crud guard on.

Still it's a start, weather's looking naff for the week-end.

I will need to get the turbo-roller out and use that instead.

With me waiting for a new seat-post clamp, that in the meanwhile, I got my new Space-Grip and Polaris Map-Holder in the post. With the butterfly bars the way they are designed, I needed space for the front light and gps unit. Also having a map to hand is a boon for any budding cyclist tourist, nothing worst than having to keep stopping the bike to get out the map. I will take another photo of the bike once I get the new clamp and get all the gear on.

So watch this space!
(sorry about the untidy background Embarassed )

I've been loading up the gear onto bike and getting a feel of load-weight, not bad. Also the route is going to change slightly from Stockton to Kirkby Stephen. Then South to Kendal, West to Windermere & Ambleside. Then over the Wrynose & Hardknott passes, then hit the West coast to St. Bees. Then back to Newcastle upon Tyne via C2C route. Should be good, taking 5 days over it.

The ride is now looking like this:

Day. 1. Stockton to Bent's Farm...61 ml.
Day. 2. Bent's Farm to Eskdale...50 ml.
Day. 3. Eskdale to Little Blencow...55 ml.
Day. 4. Little Blencow to Edmundbyers...55 ml.
Day. 5. Edmundbyers to Newcastle...30 ml.

Then down to the York Cycle Show for 3 days.

I'm going to cycle over Wrynose & Hartknott Passes, a one for the album. Then cycle over to St. Bees for C2C, then over to Little Blencow via Keswick. The rest will be on the C2C route to Newcastle.

Next year, I'm planning to do the Land's End to John O'Groats Bike Ride and a hard ride it will be too!. This is 1000 miles and it's always been my dream to do it. I will be saving hard to raise the cash.
