Well, after todays debacle, see here:

http://www.mtbe.co.uk/what-started-off-as-a-t560.html

It seems I am in the market for some new forks, I am quite impresseed by the Dart 3's I have on my Titanium bike which also have a remote poploc, which comes in quite handy. I find they are extremely good value and do a damned decent job out on the trail.

But, I was toying with the idea now that the oppurtunity has arisen, for going "rigid" up front on my Marin Eldridge, what's anybody think, or do you have a different idea of a front fork...........

Question Question

Well, I am having a serious re-think about what to do, Filthy.

Yesterday, it was a case of, what can I do to get the bike up and running a.s.a.p.?

Even though I've got my Titanium in the garage, today I'm questioning the cost and is it worth spending on forks, wheel, brakes, tyre etc., on an 8-9 year old bike, even though it is still mint, or should I just hang on and put the cost of repairs towards getting a new bike when it takes my fancy.

Decisions, decisions............... Confused Confused

If you are in no rush (ie have an alternative bike to use in the meanwhile) I'd say take your time and build a bike up from bit's to be exactly as you want it. If you've got the time, you can wait to pick up some bargains on ebay etc as and when they come up.

If you want to get your Marin back running ASAP as cheaply as possible while you make a decision, I'm pretty sure I still have a set of Suntour XCR RL 100mm forks with remote lockout knocking around - you can have them for as long as you need. Not exactly the last word in fork design but will do a job for a while.

I'm sure between the parts bins of most of the people on here there would be enough kit knocking around to get you up and running again by the weekend Very Happy

Cheers Crispy, appreciate that, but if you now see the original post about my "OFF", I have managed to have a better look at my Marin, was far too wrecked and in pain yesterday, and it seems that my forks aren't in the condition I thought, which is good news Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Wink
