|
|
Anyone fancy anything down south by way of either clubrun, training run, ride-to-cafe-and-chat or whatever? FWIW, I know dozens of cafes around the Bucks, Berks, West Surrey and Hants area.
I live very close to jct. 14 of the M25 and can go out almost any time.
Any offers of anything for a meet-up and ride, either regular or one-off? _________________ At my age, I should know better! |

OK, I suggest we start this up and when everyone down this way sees how exclusive it is and wants to join in (it's gotta happen ), we'll see if they're worthy.
So, meeting place halfway-ish? How about Fairoaks Airport cafe or thereabouts? I know lots of rides around that area but will gladly follow you on some of your routes, if you prefer.
As I said, I'm now retired from work so can probably fit in with your shifts. Just let me know when it suits you and we'll kick this off. _________________ At my age, I should know better! |

Mornings are better for me and I'm happy to ride wherever and at whatever speed you want. Would about 9:30-ish suit you?
The obvious choice from Fairoaks is the Manor Farm tea rooms at Seale, just off the A31 at the Hog's Back - a real cyclist's cafe and right next door to WyndyMilla bike shop.
Next week I should be OK for almost any weekday. Just let me know when it's more definite and we'll make the arrangements.
OK, you southern roadies, it's kickin' off! Sign up here for the 'I wanna be part of it' list - (Looks towards Brad) _________________ At my age, I should know better! |

Not too far from Puttenham but unless you want to go over Puttenham Hill and Wanborough Hills, we'll go another slightly less hilly route via Normandy, Ash Green and Tongham (I'm happy to do any route).
I was actually there today with some SWRC riders. There are usually about a dozen or so other road riders there. After two visits you'll be an expert in moaning about the weather!
BTW, the shop is one of those 'wander around drooling at the too-expensive fabulous stuff' places. I've been in there about 12 times and have never been close to buying anything! _________________ At my age, I should know better! |

Steve, this sounds good to me I'm slightly farther south, but that's not a problem. At the mo work hours are all over the place, but after Easter things should settle down which would make it easier to plan a ride I'll let you know. _________________ “When 900 years old you reach… look as good, you will not!" |

Both OK for me Ashley. Let me know the better day for you, time to meet, where to meet and how long you want to go out for.
Perhaps somewhere like meet at Windlesham and ride around Ascot, Winkfield, Fifield, Maiden's Green, Moss End, Billingbeare, Dinton and Arborfield. All pretty flat roads.
I know about 5 or 6 tea stops around there where cyclists are welcome so we can tailor our run to suit the day.
... just some suggestions. Happy to go elsewhere at your suggestion though. _________________ At my age, I should know better! |

OK, let's kick this off !
Tuesday 7th meet at 10:00 by the two benches outside The Sun pub in Windlesham, at the junction of Chertsey Rd and Updown Hill.
From there we'll head out towards Henry Street garden cafe near Arborfield Cross and if things pan out, we can press on towards either Serendipity's cafe between Hook and Mattingley or Sally's at Burghfield Bridge, both via Wellington Farmshop tea room on the A33 - your choice.
I know the all the roads and cafe stops quite well.
Depending on the weather I'll either be on my winter Trek or summer Enigma bike. We'll adapt the ride pace and distance to suit us both on the day.
... anyone else feel like joining us? _________________ At my age, I should know better! |
