I need a 28.6 seat clamp with no lip

I need it for the Decade Virtue build, in order to avoid the seat collar cracking problems, which was common on this mark of frame.

I have been advised by the very good people at Kinesis, to take 5mm off the seat collar and use a very long seat-tube.

They also suggest to either use a seat clamp that doesn't have a lip, or get the lip on my existing "frame specific" Kinesis QR clamp milled down to suit.

However, before I go ahead and get the QR milled down, I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a seat clamp (size 28.6) that does NOT have a lip on the internal diameter?

To be honest, it doesn't have to be a QR as long as it works

they are a bit pricey but it looks like the hope ones don't have a lip.

Cheers - They look the ticket.

Strange though - the ones listed at CRC and Wiggle all seem to have a lip on

Must be a different model Confused

AFAIK all seat collars invariably have a lip as this acts as a water barrier and to help correct seating of the clamp. I've certainly never seen one without. a lip.

... but here's the answer! ...

If you're worried about cracking the frame, one of these should help as it takes lot of the tension from clamping the frame and places it on the pillar:-

I've still got one from my old MTB that's long since departed - it works wonderfully well.

Trouble was - I couldn't find one (New) for the size I needed

Went for one of these instead

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/brave-pogo-double-bolt-seatclamp/rp -prod37002

A bit chunky (even for a double bolt) but they have no lip - plus they had gold - which fits my colour-scheme

Worth a punt at £7.49

That may well do it as it spreads to load.

Another small point is to use some carbon assembly paste as this again allows clamping with less torque.

I had a single-bolt Scott pin that let the saddle rotate at 20psi, a bit past the max. rec. of 17, A decent dollop of Tacx Carbon Assembly Paste (yes, even on alloy-to-alloy) held it at 14-15psi.
