Cracking ride yesterday on the Ultegra equipped Cannondale SuperSix.
Headed out into a beautiful sunny morning, not a cloud in the sky, even took the chance of applying some sun cream can you believe.........
Made my way out of Middlesbrough via Nunthorpe then along the dual carriageway to Guisborough making quite good time considering I was just taking things easy. Up Birke Browe then blasted along the Moor road positively eating up the miles, sailing past Lockwood Beck and Scaling Dam Reservoirs. Fast, long, long descent down into Whitby with some splendid views of the Abbey and the coast.
Had a potter through the town which was already very busy then climbed up to the Abbey, a nearby Steam Festival well under way and proving very popular.
Down through the town again, stopping for a quick cup of tea by the Harbour, then decided to make my way along the Esk Valley and some nice climbs. Through Ruswarp and Sleights and then the mad up and down climbs.
Luckily as I arrived at Grosmont the level crossing was closed and a steam engine was doing some shunting to join up to some carriages.
More mad climbs and descents as I passed through Glaisdale and along to Fryup, then Danby and Castelton, stopping here to take on some water from the Co-Op.
Pressed on for home from here taking the Dibble Bridge road for Kildale and on to Ayton and Seamer for home.
A absolutely cracking ride in superb conditions for a change.
72.9 mile in just under 5 hours with a massive amount of climbing.

That's insanely quick for that distance and elevation. What did you eat?

Not a thing. I had planned on having a cod whilst sitting on the front near the amusements but had got there far too early so didn't bother, and hadn't taken anything as a result.
