Hi chaps,

I'm looking for advice on getting a 2x crankset to fit on a FSA MegaExo Integrated BB fitted to a 2011 Giant TCX3 CX bike.

I'm in the process of upgrading the drivetrain to a mix of 105/Ultegra 10 speed, and have found that the chainrings I have aquired are not compatible with the cranks already on the bike (a major oversight). Or is there a BB I can swap to that won't cost the earth (budget is very tight) that will allow me to use reasonably priced cranks Rolling Eyes Laughing

Suggestions of what to look for on the likes of ebay etc will be gratefully received. I've also posted a want ad in the for sale section just in case anyone has something hiding in a box somewhere Laughing

Thanks in advance Cool

I may be wrong but wouldn't you need a BB with a shorter spindle length as you are going from a triple chainset to a double...... Question

I don't know, I'm new to messing around with road style bikes having left my CX stock for 6 years. I will admit to being slightly foxed by having to learn the different parts sets and to what they are compatible, I found the MTB bits much easier to navigate (that and I'm getting old Laughing ).

Presuming that your CX is fitted with a triple chainset at the moment I'm sure you'd need a replacement bottom bracket with a shorter spindle length to bring the rings of your new double chainset closer to the frame for efficient shifting, plus you'd need a new front mech as well.

A new BB should be about £25 to £30 I would have thought.

If your frame is a screw in type BB which from 2011 it probably will be, it might just be easier to keep an eye in the sales for a shimano HT2 type chainset which will come with a external BB in the box.

Scratch that, this campy one is lovely and a massive bargain.

But I have no idea what BB it takes..... Laughing
