I'm looking at getting a gravel bike, just for the extra tyre clearance over a classic CX bike. Size large or 56cm.

I have a 2011 giant tcx that I've been using and I feel I've wasted a bit of cash putting new bars and a second hand 105 group set on it due to having issues on some single track where I was taking it easy on Racing Ralph's.

Though I did have a splendid day, I had several other issues highlighted like a lack of low end gearing...which I've solved with a better cassette

What bikes would you recommend that are at the cheaper end of the spectrum that can fit a bigger tyre?

Cheers

Cool

I've done more than you would think possible on my Saracen Hack, it's been a great bike.

Fast road rides, gravel rides, cx racing etc..

It's currently got some 650b wheels and 47mm tyres on it.

I've just been looking at those bikes, I didn't realise they were 650b wheels, will have to have a second and better look at them.

I was also looking at the Whyte Glencoe as well. The Maring and GT bikes leave me cold and the Spesh Sequoia was quite heavy in comparison.

Had a look at a Sonder today, that was quite nice, going to try and find somewhere to view a Light Blue Darwin.
