Hi, I wondered if you could help, please.

I’m looking for a recommendation of a suitable nav/gps.

Needs to have 1:25000 maps that has bridle ways etc.

Fitness features are very low on the priority list. I’ve tried asking in bike shops in London but they just show me the display cabinet or their website.

Budget is 150 to 200. Might stretch if there’s a step change in value.

Needs to work when no phone reception.

Grateful for any pointers.

Viewranger on your phone , subscribe to 1:50k and 1:25 k maps for about £26 per year , download maps onto phone if you know you are going out of service ,1:50k will easily fit whole country on phone but 25k ones are massive memory huggers so just download what you need for each ride then delete .
I think OS have a similar scheme but as I don't use that I can't comment properly , been using viewranger for years (free or very cheap app for Apple/Andriod and Symbian )

Many thanks, I’ll look into this.

I have the 25000 OS map routing on my phone through premium service and usually buy the map too. The newer maps can be downloaded (I’ve tried it once).

I’ll need to see if there’s a positioning tracker option that I’m missing, although I’m looking for something that will work when outside phone range in the countryside.

It looks like Garmin does a download of UK 25000 for a couple of hundred quid. And some do TOPO maps which might be what I’m after too.
