Hi all im new to bikes but its something i have been thinking about doing for a while. my name is aaron and i live in devon there are some good woods around here that a bloke i used to work with told me about so i cant wait to have a go. i had a cbr supermoto but i dont it was up to much so im going to have a go at building my own bike i have just bought a marin alpine trail frame off ebay its a 2004 i know its a bit old but its a start, i have just been looking at front shocks and have seen these rock shox recon race oe 2009 forks does any one know if they will fit my frame or if they are any good thanks in advance Aaron Very Happy

Welcome aaron....Me too a fan of Marin...went out on my 2010 hawk hill today and it was so smooth and a pleasant place to spend the afternoon....


We like lodas of pictures and detail on here...so get taking and posting up the bike build.... Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

thanks for the comments im glad i seem to have got a better frame this time. i will post some pics as soon as it gets to me. im 90% sure the forks will fit i was just hoping some one would confurm it before i spend my money. Very Happy

Welcome Dude

The thing to look for when fitting forks is the steerer diameter and the steerer length I'm _guessing_ it'll be 1 1/8th steerer, if you're unsure measure it or get your local bike shop to take a look for you

hi thanks it is 1 1/8 so i got my new shocks today and my frame came yesterday. im hoping to get a headset at the weekend so that i can fit the forks to the frame but we will see. as i have said im new to bikes does anyone know if there is a book i can get that tells me about building a bike as i have no idea lol anyway here are some pics so far. im not sure if this is in the wright place sorry if its not Laughing
