No!!!!! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Not that "pumping" Embarassed Embarassed

Pumping your tyres, "pumping" Wink

After Gouldy's misfortune on Sunday's Forum Ride, I just wonder how many of us ever bother to check the kit we ride with, or are caught short like Gouldy on Sunday.

I know that many years ago while at the top of Highcliffe on my Palisades Trail I decided that my rear tyre could do with a little more air. Fitting the pump to the valve my tyre promptly deflated big style and no amount of pumping would get it back up. This pump had been fantastic about 2 years ago when I last used it Embarassed Embarassed

Fortunately, and rarely, back in those days 2 guys rode past and offered me the use of their Zefal Twin Shot Mini Pump, tyre inflated in no time, and Zefal purchased at soonest oppurtunity from Bikescene.

Anyone else ever been caught out with a peice of kit that should have worked but didn't while out on the trail Question

And Gouldy, did you manage to get your pump going once you got home and tested it Question

I take it they were the plastic "light weight" ones.......

I was so glad after repairing a flat at home on my Marin a good few years ago that I didn't have these out on the trail, all three snapped while trying to remove a particularly awkward steel beaded tyre. I always ride with good old fashioned metal tyre levers now Wink

Well........ Embarassed Embarassed

I was well and truly caught out today, same problem as Gouldy Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Out over the Western parts of the Moors on a very long descent and managed to pick up a thorn in the front tyre. Put a repalcement tube in but wouldn't go up, found brand new replacement tube to have a slit in it Twisted Evil

Repaired both tubes but still not going up, only taking in a little bit of air.

Tried pumping up loose innner tube and still only taking in a little air before stopping inflating. Pump obviously knackered.
Had to abandon ride half way through and make for car park at steady, slowish pace with front end squirming all over the place Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Was really enjoying it as well after being full of cold for the last 2 days Sad
