as discused in a previous post, i,m going to be racing most sundays so thought i'd write some race reports just incase anyones intrested so here it goes Razz

was my first cross race and i'm doing the season on my hardtail. warming up around the richmond course i was worried about some of the steep snappy hills were you have to get of your bike and push as i cant chuck the bike over ma sholder unlike the cross bikes

at the start of the half hour race i wasnt sure on how to pace myself compared to the other riders, so i sat in the middle of the group for half a lap untill it spread out, on the flatter sections i was gapping a rider who i was battaling with but buy about 100 metres every lap, as the hills come he caught up to me

i seriously couldnt believe how hard it was. its full on for half an hour and your legs are easily burning buy the mid way stage, i was also feeling a bit sick.

coming to the last lap a rider had crashed and i got within about 100 meters of him and infront of the rider i had been battaling with, but trying to catch him on the last to hils i basicly blew up and got over took myself.

finished 7th over all ( out of i think 20 ) and 4th in my age catorgry, you race with the under 16's aswell then you get placed by you age catorgry at the end

here's some pics

early in the race looking a bit nervous

turning into the off camber decent

taking the iside line from the lad i was battaling with

the toughest hill of the race

another view of the hill

at the top getting ready to jump back on

so thats the first one, if anyones got any ideas on how i can make the better feel free to comment

Well done Marty, and good report made better by the pictures Wink

I know you can't pick the bike up but I think you need to have a look at your uphill pushing technique!!!

I know what you mean about the "full on" bit as well from I used to race MTB, it was quite common to see people being sick by the side of the trail just from pushing too hard......

I see from your other post that there is an event at Eston Hills, Flatts lane.
