As threevok said, I think you'd be better getting an air fork. You can adjust it infinity (within reason) to get the required action rather than hoping that different weight springs will be good enoug ...

I've wanted one of these for years and finally found one I wanted. It's mostly built from bits off old bikes but I'm pretty happy with the result

It's a rapid rise dérailleur you want. The shifting youve heard about is either index finger/thumb (typical shimano) or thumb/thumb (SRAM) and you can use both I believe with the XT shifters

As far as I know it's short for 1x, medium for 2x and long for 3x

Might want to wait for someone to confirm that.

I always wear long fingered gloves. I hate short fingered gloves though. You'd be surprised how much they save your skin too...

I don't honestly notice my hands getting particularly hot or sweaty
