Just to say changed my pedals midweek went out this morning for a couple of hours and all is very silent and smooth so it seems the pedals were the problem and not the bottom bracket.......

Free rolling there's no click/noise, when pedaling easily/downhill the click is slight but gets a lot lot worse when pedaling uphill or putting the power down.

Cheers for the replies, its a Giant hardtail the new BB is a SHIMANO ES51 (£35) + £15 LABOUR..... Had a quick check and cannot see any cables catching and the chain is clear of the front deraileur. ...

Over the last few weeks my bike has developed a irritating click/noise coming from the bottm bracket, so took it to my LBS who said the bott bracket was knackered so had a new1 fitted ...
