JohnC and me (and others?) are planning to do the ride from the last (or one before?) mbr mag. From memory, it goes from the visitors centre, up through woods, over Percy Rigg, down New Row, up other side, across Battersby Moor, down to Battersby, along road to Kildale, across Easby Moor, down Dikes Lane, through Airyholme Farm and back to car park. Something along those lines anyway.

22 miles iirc.

9am.

Gouldy was just talking about this route as we descended into Leven Vale and he saw the Warren Mine Chimney, while we were doing the May Forum Ride.

I'll be in for this ride, some lovely climbs on this route, up through Little Kildale and out of Baysdale Abbey too, Wink Wink

Plus there's that cheeky little downhill that's Turkey Nab, (feel free to laugh at me if I take it painfully easy Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed )

Damnn, that makes it so much worse Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

There's nothing I like more than that extra challenge the weather can throw at you, Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

The trails must have been fairly solid though, were they,(with the exception of Leven Vale to Baysdale) as when I was out the other day everything seemed pretty well baked, so I would have thought the rain would have just ran off for the first few hours?

Gunner,

Conditions were better than expected under tyre!
If the Baysdale bit was the one I'm thinking about, it was rather boggy and a bit stop-start but take the right line & I bet its ridable.
In fact the rain will probably soften the baked trails to make them smoother & fast once dry again. Cant wait!! Twisted Evil

Was the "Baysdale bit" just prior to this gate in the picture below, this was taken when I have done the ride in much better weather 2 years ago.
After this gate is the long grassy descent to the track to Baysdale Abbey.

If it was then this boggy at the best of times and a wrong line through it can leave you missing a shoe Embarassed Embarassed

Yeh, it was a good ride, cheers guys. The rain had put me on a bit of a downer when we set off but I really enjoyed it and quite fancy doing it again when the weather's better. I noticed from John's map that we got the start a bit wrong - should have gone via Highcliff, not Unsuitables - I think that was my fault - sorry! (not that it would have made any real difference to the ride overall).
