SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY.

Looking at doing a re-run of the January Forum Ride on this date depending on interest.

It was a very popular ride on the day over a very varied course.

START .....................GUISBOROUGH VISITORS CENTRE.

TIME .........................0900HRS

DISTANCE.............14 MILE very approx.

ROUTE.......................From the Visitor Centre, cut across Home Farm, climb the "Unsuitables". At the gate from the woods onto the moor turn left and cross to the Tees Link path via the Cleveland Way. Drop down the track into Sleddale, then climb up to Percy Rigg and head North and cross to Gribdale Gate. Climb up to Cooks Monument, steep singletrack down across the Moor to enter and through Bleach Mill Wood.
Climb up to Coates Moor and through forest singletrack to return to Gribdale.
From Gribdale, climb up onto Great Ayton Moor and head to Hutton Moor for a rattle down the "Unsuitables" and back to the car park.

** the only change to the above would be if the conditions were muddy we'd bypass the downhill to Gribdale Gate and use the "steps" to prevent getting "clayed" up Embarassed Embarassed

Extremely tempting when compared to painting a wall. I'll see how the kitchen goes this weekend. Don't have any worries with the missus, just my own conscience Rolling Eyes

Sorry guy's but I'm going to make an executive decision Shocked Shocked

and have to cancel this ride........... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

RUDDY shame I know, but if you read my other post on the MTB discussion board then you'd know that I was out at Gibber today and the conditions on the ground were really bad.

I think that given the weather forecast there is a very real possibility that this would just be a re-run of the December Forum Ride, not the January one, and even if the weather does improve I think the going would be so difficult due to the water/snow that the ride would be pretty much un-enjoyable.

Sorry, but I just thought I'd post this up sooner rather than later so that people are able to make other plans if they still want to ride........

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

No problem, I think that we have been very lucky on the last few rides that we have not had any injuries considering the amount of ice and mud we have been through and the amount off falls we had or should i say i had Laughing

Its been a long winter when you consider what we were riding this time last year roll on spring Very Happy

John, the forecast for overnight Saturday is minus 4 degrees, that I have seen. I think it will take some time for it to become rideable up there, especially if it stays as it was when I was out there on Wednesday.

Certainly no fun and I don't want people travelling down there not to be able to ride when I've seen what the conditions are most likely to be like.
