Shot off to get an early ride today before things get hectic. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Parked up at Gibber and headed through the woods on the main tracks, was quite pleased at my rate of knots up the Unsuitables as well. From the top it was along the main track past the old Obs. Hut and along the top of Percy Rigg to the crossroads.
Although it was only early, the sky was clear, the winds seemed light, it wasn't cold, there didn't seem to be anybody about taking advantage of all of this Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

AT THE OBS HUT:

MY LIGHTS ARE BACK ON YOU'LL NOTICE:

THE TRACK OVER PERCY RIGG:

Anyway, at the crossroads it was left turn and fast pace on the tarmac to Commondale then back off road again to take the Bridleway to Castleton and onto Danby, again via the Bridleway. Things were looking good, the tracks were quite dry and challenging and my bike was staying clean Shocked Shocked

Climbing out of Danby to the Whitby road I realised that part of my speed was due to having a ruddy strong tail wind, and my speed was dropping a bit now, as well as the climbing that is.

LOOKING ACROSS TO CASTLETON:

NOTHING TOO CHALLENGING HERE:

ACROSS THE ESK VALLEY TO AINTHORPE:

At the top of the Danby road I cut across the Moor to Commondale top, boy was that hard work in that wind, then on the road to turn of above Lockwood Beck for the Panniermans Causeway.

Not been across here for a while and now I remember why Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
Dropping down to Westworth Wood it was nice to see that the drainage problem in this part of the forest had never been addressed Confused Confused

This is one seriously wet part of the area and has always been like that, but it has become quite overgrown in recent years and this hasn't helped.

Leaving Westorth and entering Guisborough Forest was liking riding into a Vietnam Jungle after a Napalm Strike!!! Luckily I cut straight across the top where the Bridleway used to cut through the trees then on the main tracks back under Highcliffe to the car park.

Not a bad morning, 29 mile in just on 3 hours, though turning into that wind from the Danby road really hit me as I was trying to pick the pace up from that point, plus the Panniermans Causeway was damned hard work Wink Wink

And still not many people out Crying or Very sad
