| Ok, got a Merida and love it, got hydraulic discs, first time I've had discs, but am I being too fussy! I would expect them to run smooth with no grinding noises or is this perfectly natural? I have improved the noise by setting the rear wheel straight! Still not 100% with the pdi from the lbs! But by the by! Will they make noise? |

Discs will quite often make a little bit of noise, especially if you've been out on it, as you'll get little bits of grit in there and it's a very small space.
The wheel you shouldn't have to fiddle with. It should sit in there perfectly straight without any effort....unless you have a funky way of putting it on
On the other hand, the pads might not be aligned properly. You could try doing this yourself. There's loads of instructions on the www - you should find some good ones on Park Tools, or Sheldon Brown. Or Youtube. _________________ He didn't find his dreams ... his dreams found him |

are the discs perfectly true? If they are a tiny bit warped (as most discs are after a few rides and the odd fall) then there will be a slight grinding each time as the disc revolves and just skims the pads. Nothing you can do about it really unless you fit a new disc every few weeks, but equally its absolutely nothing to worry and fuss over! _________________ '08/09 Pinnacle Peak 1.0 Disc, upgraded with '05 150mm Marzocchi All Mountain SL's, DMR V8's, Tektro hydro front caliper and WTB Graffiti UK tyres |
