Now I know my legs work reasonably well , just in case I do manage to get to that fell-race tomorrow morning. |
Monday 25th
I did the Fell-Race yesterday, & it was damned hard
I had a late morning start & had a few miles on one of the road-bikes, which was the first time riding since getting 'ejected' from it last Sunday (17th) on black-ice, the wrist's still a bit sore for holding the bars properly
This afternoon, I phoned the wife up to see how long she'd be at her office, as I'd planned to try & run there before she left it, so I could return home with her.
She came the opposite way a bit short of the National Trust estate (perhaps half-mile?) where we have the office, & the distance came out at a (car odometer measured) 3.5 miles - which took 25:27, so that was a decent enough pace after yesterdays grim deed _________________ Richard A Thackeray

Tuesday 26th
On with the (thankfully dried out after Sunday!) fell-shoes, & I ran to barbers this morning, through local woods, along bank of River Calder, up an old 'wagon-route' (originally horse-drawn railway) which connected local collieries to the Aire & Calder Navigation Canal, & hence to the barbers.
Circa 3 & 1/2 miles in 25:12
I had it cut & ran exactly the same way back 15 minutes later
Sadly I was a bit slower on my return run (a long drag back up from the woods/riverbank) & opened the gate at 26:40
Edit Wed 27th @ 12:55
Sorry, got the return time wrong
Just checked the watch that I wore for the run ('Runners World' subscribers freebie), & it's still showing the 26:05 I actually recorded for the return
There!, that makes me feel a bit better _________________ Richard A Thackeray

Wednesday 27th;
(5th consecutive day of running)
Fairly cool, Ron Hills, t-shirt, long-sleeve top, woolly hat & gloves
Run to work for a late-shift @ 30:30 - damned good!, I'm chuffed with that
Returned home, leaving at 22:00, in a great time of 29:04! ('PB' = 28:45 - set in summer; shorts & t-shirt)
Thought I might have got a lift home actually, as we had a (Police) Traffic Officer in the department from about 21:00.
I know him a bit to talk to (he runs as well), as I was leaving he was sat outside finishing off his paperwork (visited us regarding a 'RTC')
His station is my local one, which is perhaps 500 yards from my house (in a straight line)
He passed me about 11 minutes into the run (mile & half?), gave me a flash of the 'red rear strobe-lights' & a wave, then carried on _________________ Richard A Thackeray

Thursday 28th
'Late Turn'. Rode to work for a change
Friday 29th
'Late Turn'. Rode to work, long way round
Saturday 30th
'Late Turn'. Drove to work (time constraints), but 'sinned' & ordered a Pizza to pick up on way home
It's true, a 16" deep-pan 'Asian Meat-Feast' serves one!
Sunday 31st
'Late Turn'. Run to work 31:17, & managed a reasonable 29:41 on homebound journey - bloody cold though coming home at 22:00!!
Monday 1st
'Early Turn'. Run to work, 32:04 (very stiff/siezed-up at 05:30)
Run home in a very disappointing 33:34, but felt absolutely horrible during it. (knees & thighs ached 'big style')
I doubt I could have gone any faster if there'd been someone chasing me with a bull-whip! _________________ Richard A Thackeray

Friday 5th
No run (or ride)
Looking around a new school in the morning, & then chasing up a new battery for the XKR in the afternoon (not been started since beginning of December, hence a ruined battery)
Saturday 6th
Run to work this morning, set off @ 05:00, fairly misty, but not too cold - just cool. 31:27
Run home, leaving @ 14:00, felt reasonable.
Called at Co-Op for a bottle of 'Frijj' to drink when I got in.
Stopped timer on entering shop, restarted it as I recrossed the threshold.
Not sure if that slight recuperation was the deciding factor in the elapsed time though?...... 29:09

Coming home, even though I was very warm for the last 2 miles, & had to take the gloves, for some cooling saw a time of = 29:12 _________________ Richard A Thackeray

Wednesday 10th
An icy run in early this morning, with a couple of scares in places, resulting in a 31:12
I thought that I might have problems at hometime, as there was a few flakes falling mid-morning
Left at 13:00 (to make up for the going in early), & running home was dry, sunny, but slightly breezy, and netted me a 28:56 _________________ Richard A Thackeray

Clocked another 29:09 on the run home
The time was a slight shock, as I had my Club bib-tights on today though; complete with chammy insert _________________ Richard A Thackeray
